I don’t know about your class, but in my class at this time of the year the honeymoon is over. The kids are making themselves at home in our classroom and they are warmed up to me quite well!
They know our short list of rules.
They know what is right.
They know what is wrong.
And the kids who test me are testing me daily!
I want to share something so simple that I use to as positive behavior reinforcement.
My fabulous mentor teacher taught me to create something called “The Happy Picture”.
It’s SUPER simple and works like a charm!
Usually I will reward the students with a sticker if their name is in the Happy Picture at the end of the day. As the year goes on, I let the students pass out the stickers in the morning. They love being responsible for this little task and it helps them learn to read each other’s names, too!
Sometimes simple is best, my friends. Simplify.

I’m loving this idea! Thank you for sharing 🙂
I have used this idea for years and love positively reinforcing the students! I put a star next to students if they are already inside the picture, or write the word “all” inside the picture if I want to reward the whole class. Love your blog!
