Holidays Around the World: Christmas

When it comes to starting my holidays around the world unit, I prefer to start with Christmas because most students are familiar with this holiday. This gives us a solid point of reference to start with, especially with younger learners. The Christmas Celebration resource has everything you’ll need to teach about Christmas around the world.

This resource includes:

  • vocabulary cards and graphic organizers
  • Christmas facts pocket chart sorts and graphic organizers
  • pocket book sort
  • emergent reader
  • craftivity (craft + an educational activity)
  • family traditions class book

Some of my personal favorite books to read about Christmas include:

Holidays Around the World: Hanukkah

The Hanukkah Mini-Unit is the perfect resource to introduce Hanukkah to kindergarten, first, and second grade students. After teaching about Christmas traditions around the world, students can compare Hanukkah traditions to Christmas traditions and share what they’ve been learning.

This resource includes:

  • vocabulary cards and graphic organizers
  • Hanukkah and Christmas facts sort and graphic organizers
  • flip books
  • Hanukkah and Kwanzaa facts sort and graphic organizers
  • Hanukkah pocket book sort
  • emergent reader
  • craftivity

Some of my personal favorite books to read about Hanukkah include:

Holidays Around the World: Kwanzaa

Finally, I introduce the celebration of Kwanzaa. Students always love getting a peek into celebrations they may not be very familiar with, and this celebration has a lot of interesting facts to unpack! The Kwanzaa Celebration unit is packed with tons of resources and activities to help students understand what this celebration is all about!

With Kwanzaa vocabulary cards, graphic organizers, flip books, an emergent reader, pocket book sort, and a craftivity, there’s plenty of activities to choose from to teach your kindergarten, first, and second grade learners. Grab it today!

Some of my personal favorite books to read about Kwanzaa include:

I have also bundled these three resources to help you save! The Holidays Around the World Bundle saves you more than 25% than if you bought each resource individually. You can get all three resources in one easy-to-manage bundle!

Learning about different holiday celebrations from different cultures is a great way to help our students build a classroom community and understand their world. Understanding leads to compassion and empathy, something our little learners will need help practicing! If you’ve never introduced Hanukkah or Kwanzaa to your class, this is a great way to start!
